There are two reasons I take DIM. The first is as Mark noted, as an estrogen control product (ensuring “good” estrogen — this product doesn’t eliminate it). The second reason may stem from the first: it helps greatly with my acne. Within a week of just taking one tablet a day, I received an unsolicited comment on the clarity of my skin from my girlfriend. Shortly thereafter I resumed taking probiotics (only ones which have guaranteed potency at consumption). As a precaution, I take the DIM 1 tablet a day 5 days a week, then take a few months off once I run out, although preliminary studies show it to be relatively safe.
One important note: this product contains phosphatidyl choline and Bioperine which may increase absorbtion/utilization. To be safe you should check into Bioperine’s active ingredient Piperine which inhibits CYP3A4

I bought this to relieve breast pain associated with PMS. It totally eliminated the pain. Apparently DIM helps metabolize out the “bad” estrogens. Highly recommended if you have this problem. No short of miraculous for me.

DIM is an extract from brocolli. It acts as a catylst in the processing of estrogen. It makes the process aeorobic and you get a complete breakdown into the estrogen 2 form (the good estrogen). Otherwise the breakdown is anaeorbic and you don’t get a complete breakdown. So you get the estrogen 16 form (the bad estrogen). Since our modern world includes so many estrogen mimicers (plastics, pesticides, and hormones given to cows and cattle), most Americans have way to much estrogen. Older men who don’t make as much testosterene as they used to, can actually have more estrogen than their wives. A really nice benefit of the estrogen 2 form is that it bumps testosterene off receptor sites, and you get a lot free floating testosterene (with all the benefits you would expect). I strongly recommend this product for both men and women. Older men should take four tablets per day.
